A few updates.

Luke is 13 months and growing. Today we went to the playground and he loved it. He was all over the place, he even went down the slide ALL by himself.

Emily is doing her internship and she is loving it. This Friday is her last day up in the WIC clinic up in Salt Lake after a long month (thank goodness because it is a lot of driving). Her next rotation is in Springville, Nebo district (only 6 min away!! hurray!).

Luke has been coloring so much lately. He has a pretty good grip with crayons, sharpie, etc! We don't have any piece of art from him on our walls yet. He is also really good with baby spoons and forks since he feeds himself. I also started potty training Luke and it lasted one day! LOL
He likes sitting on his new potty since it has the cushy seat and all. We were reading books for about 30 minutes and nothing..... but guess what, as soon as I stood up he went number 1 on the kitchen's floor. I'll keep trying, but I won't stress about it. I know he's only 13 months. Any suggestions????Oh I almost forgot, he knows how to flush the real toilet!
A funny note is that I've been noticing that Luke likes to baby-sit. He sits on top of babies when ever he has a chance to, it is funny (sorry, no pictures yet) .
Luke's favorite vegetables are broccoli with a little bit of butter and corn.

I'm enjoying being with Luke 24/7 and I'm also taking an anatomy class before I start dental school on August 16th. This week in anatomy we'll be working with real cadavers. I'm learning all the muscles and all that good stuff.

Emma's b-day is almost here. What should I do this year.....?
I know this post is all over the place, I just wrote whatever came to mind as you can probably tell.

Chao! Y por favor si leen esto comenten. jaja

I just thought this was hilarious!

A few weeks ago Emily and I went to Divine comedy @ BYU. It was so much fun. This is one of the videos they showed with all the inside jokes (mormons, BYU, etc). Check it out!

I love Luke! I love playing with him!

This post is all about LUKE, and you have grandma K to blame for; so if you don't like reading about babies this is not your post ; )

Luke 1 year. He is still a drooler.
I love him so much!

These pictures are after a bath. He always makes me chase him to get him dressed.

After the battle and a little bribe to let him use my phone I have him all dressed up.

Luke's 1st b-day morning. Although I don't think he liked the way we sung, I'm pretty sure he'll love this video when he's older. I grateful for technology these days allowing us to treasure sweet moments like this one. Luke's 1st b-day video. (Blogger just takes forever!)

Here is another video of Luke walking. He loves mandarins, so of course he walked! And if you didn't have enough, here is another one!

Here is ANOTHER video of me playing with Luke. He loves to be chased! I know I make funny noises but I don't care, I think he enjoys that the most!

Here is Luke thinking that his bowl is some sort of helmet. I laughed at his silliness and then he started laughing with me.

And of course all this joy wouldn't be possible without the love of my life, Emily!
Next post will be about our lovely winter!!!

PS: Uploading videos to the blog is a nightmare. I tried to do it 4 different times. From now on I'll just use facebook for videos.

Christmas

Christmas was a lot of fun.
This was Luke's first Christmas. He got an awesome leather jacket from grandma K. and grandpa Tim. He loves it, but I don't think he loves it as much as I do. I don't even have one. He looks adorable. Even though it's a bit too big on him, he has worn it several times already.

This was my Christmas present to my gorgeous wife Emily. Doesn't she look cute?

Oh how a year flies

Luke is one! He turned one on December 15! Wow. He is so grown up too. A few things about him:
- He is 18lbs 12oz (3%ile)
-28.5" Long (<5%ile)
From his last checkups, he has barely grown. We have doing some tests (so far all have come back normal) to try to figure out why he's not growing and trying to stack calories. If you have any good ideas as to how to add calories without adding a bunch of sugar, suggestions would be appreciated. We already add formula to his whole milk, add butter to crackers and bread, and formula to anything stir-able.
-His favorite foods are canned pears and peaches or fresh mandarin "cuties" without any added fats or calories!
-He likes to feed himself and can handle a spoon pretty well.
-When he's finished eating, he likes to style his hair with his leftovers.
- He is walking, sort of. He can walk about 10 steps consecutively, but prefers to crawl. He thinks walking is just a fun game that we play.
-He LOVES to climb the stairs. He will climb up and down and now that we have an upstairs, he loves throwing his toys down the stairs. (By the way, we moved! We love our new place!)
-He has 7 teeth with 3? more breaking through. Some of those are molars! Holy cow!
-He babbles and talks to us all the time! He will also mimic our words. He has said "gracias" several times and "oye!" (which means "Hey!") all the time.
-He puts the phone to his ear and babbles "Hello?"
-He waves good-bye.
-He gives kisses on demand.
-He gives 5.
-He sings lullabys to himself
-He wants to do anything we are doing-- write on papers, type on the computer (right now!), read a book, etc.
- His favorite toys are anything he is not supposed to have. i.e. anything dirty or dangerous like garbage, pill bottles, anything found in the kitchen cupboards, anything found in the bathroom cupboards or anything found in mommy's purse! especially her wallet.

We love Luke with ALL our hearts. He is our pride and joy. Our hearts melt with every innocent smile.

Going Private

Well, the time has come. We have gotten way too many weird spam comments and don't feel safe having our pictures and stories on the web for everyone to access. So, we are going private! I will give adequate time for everyone who would like to read our blog to add their email addresses.

Don't be shy-- we want you to look at our blog-- that's why we do it! Thanks!

Florida Vacation and Halloween

Francisco had an interview for dental school in Ft Lauderdale Florida, so we all went to visit Francisco's family! It was a great vacation. The interview went really well, but Francisco didn't like the school, so most likely we will not be moving to Florida next year. I think I am okay with that-- I enjoy having seasons. All week it felt like summer-- it was a great break (especially since it was snowing in Utah) but I love fall and spring too!
Luke on the airplane. He did really well. We had some really late flights and although it wasn't easy, he did a good job. He slept in our arms and didn't cry too much. On the way home, I came home by myself with Luke and we had a 4 hour flight! Yikes! He was good. The worst thing that happened was that everyone thought he was a girl! He was wearing red pajamas with rockets on them... seriously guys! Rockets! There were like 4 different people that called him a "cute little girl" or "she did so good on the plane!"... yeah, she sure did...
We were given tickets to see an Arabian nights show. I am so glad we didn't pay for them-- it was not worth it. Each ticket is like $70 for dinner and the show. Dinner was fine but the show was kinda lame. It was with real horses and people did tricks and stuff but it wasn't anything that I could watch on TV for free and get the same effect. It was kinda funny to watch horses like dance though...
Of course we went to the beach! Twice! Luke loved it but it was hilarious when he got water in his mouth. He'd make the silliest face...
He chased birds
Swam
played chase with Papi
and ate shells while we made a little pool/fort for him!

We also went to a church Halloween Party that Friday. Luke dressed up as a Garden Gnome. I made the costume and I think he was adorable! He went "trunk or treating" around the parking lot. His favorite part was picking out the candies from the bowl.
His Tia (Aunt) Melissa with him during the "Costume parade"
Eating dinner. yum yum!

Overall, it was a great trip! It was so fun and nice to see Ines and Jerry and Melissa again.

Leche

We were trying to get Luke to sign "leche" (milk in spanish). He was doing it all night for us perfectly. Instead he decided it would just be easier to say it! So cute! I love Francisco's laugh laugh too.

Christmas presents

One of Luke's favorite pass-times is playing with the pots and tin bowls in the cupboards. One night, Luke was noisily playing while his wonderful parents were righteously trying to listen to a conference talk online. Luke was so loud and his parents couldn't hear the talk. So his Papi turned around and told Luke sternly, "If you like those so much, your gonna get those for Christmas!"

Right on cue, this was Luke's response:

haha, we laughed and laughed!

(We would like to thank Luke for the reenactment of the situation for pictures)
