I am not a believer in New Years Resolutions. Not because I am not goal oriented, simply because I believe in year round goal setting and that you shouldn't wait for the new year to start improving yourself. If it's going to be something that sticks, you might as well start now. I am constantly making new resolutions for myself and I don't think that just because it is January 1st, you need to overwhelm yourself with a bunch of new goals.
That being said, the past few months/weeks/days (I'm not really sure when this started) I have been feeling a little renewed and refreshed. I have gotten over the new baby thing and I am starting to feel more like the me I used to know. It feels good. I feel like I am not just surviving anymore, I am thriving. This does not mean every minute or even every day is fantastic and filled and that my life is exactly where I want it to be. Not at all. However, I feel that now I am able to start climbing that mountain to be the woman that I want to be.
I have more energy, I have learned how to balance my needs along with the needs of my family. I am starting to think more about what I can do for others, rather than what I need them to do for me. Because I am feeling this way at the moment, I have concocted up a few goals for myself that I know will help me to be a better wife and mother, have more energy, and be happier.
I thought to myself, I want to have these goals on my blog so that I am a little more accountable. So here they are!
1. Find time to read the scriptures! (This is a hard one or me. It's 11pm and I still haven't read them! yikes)
2. Exercise every day. Go to the gym 3x/week.
3. Go to the temple on ward temple night each month (Francisco and I are going to try a system where we trade off each month and every 3rd month, we find a babysitter and go together)
4. Decrease the amount of sugar in our diets. We eat too much sugar. I used to not think this was a very big deal because we eat a lot of healthy things too, but I think it is too much and we need to figure out some alternative snacks that aren't so sugar-packed.
5. Increase the amount of beans/legumes that we eat. I've been working on this for a while and haven't had a lot of success. Just need to do it.
6. Spend more quality time with my husband. Now that school is back in session for him, we need to make time for each other. I got really excited today about some of the silly dates I read about on thedatingdivas blog.
7. Make time for me. Whether it's to read a book, make some crafts, or try something new, I want to have hobbies that are for me, so that I don't lose myself in motherhood.
8. Open up and let people get to know me better. I want to share my thoughts and opinions, my likes and dislikes. I tend to put up a wall and don't get to close to people, but I think that the more I open up, the deeper and more meaningful my relationships with others will become.
I think that's it! I think these are all doable things and I am excited to do them.

I really like your goals! I've been working on #7 recently, after reading an awesome talk by Elder Ballard called "Daughters of God" where he encourages young moms to cultivate their talents, even for a few minutes a day, to refill their well to give to others. Motherhood is such a unique journey, and I'm glad you're blogging about it...helps me feel not so alone.
I like this. I think I just might make those my new goals too:)
I have been feeling goal oriented lately too. Thanks for sharing!
I have started new goals too. I have been waking up at 6am every day!! Really, me, 6 am. Crazy, right!? But it has been pretty good! I get a work out in and scripture study every day all before 7:30. Then 1 day a week instead of work out I go to the temple. So, I have done it for 5 weeks now. It is working out well! All because I wake up a few hours earlier! So- maybe you could try that- it has made my life and goals a lot easier to obtain!
You're all so inspiring! I think I may need to write down some of my goals. First I need to make some though. One would be not drinking Diet Pepsi. Oh wait, didn't I already do that? Are goals supposed to be permanent? ;)
Sarah is right (I'm really proud of her for meeting those goals!). Getting up early and going to bed earlier is key. I'm not too bad at the getting up early (although I've gotten to a later early than I used to be). I keep thinking I'm going to go to bed earlier and when I finally turn out the light it's 11:26! 6:00 comes early so I end up setting the alarm for 6:30 and then I'm rushing. Must put that one on my list, eh?
I need to get back to work so I guess I'll quit rambling. Thanks for this post.
